Climate Talks After Paris: Beyond the Pledges
Our 2016 Conference addressed public participation in climate change policies and regulations, green technologies and carbon markets in the post-Kyoto Protocol era.
After a welcome reception and a keynote speech by Kirsty Scheeberger, a former advisor at UNFCCC Secretariat, Vice-Chair of UKELA and co-founder of Beautiful Corporations, the first morning sessions started with a panel called: In whose name? Public participation in climate change policies and regulations. The panel moderated by Dr. Emily Barritt, researcher at Cambridge Centre for Environment and Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London, was composed by Alistair McGlone, Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee Member, McGlone and Associates Director, Gita Parihar, head of Legal at Friends of the Earth England, Wales & Northern Ireland, and Kurt Winter, Climate Change Lawyer and Litigator at ClientEarth.
After the launch break, the second panel led by Richard Macrory CBE, Barrister and Professor of Environmental Law at University College London contemplated the Green Technology: regulation challenges and future potential. This panel had the talks of Martin Nesbit, IEEP Senior Fellow and Head of Environmental and Climate Governance Programme, Angela Francis, Economist at Green Alliance and Linda Siegele, guest lecturer at SOAS and Advisor for Alliance of Small Island States.
Following the coffee break, the last panel of the day took place and contemplated the Carbon Markets in the post-Kyoto. Led by Feja Lesniewska, Senior Teaching Fellow both in the School of Law and CISD, the third panel had the participation of Navraj Singh Ghaleigh,
Senior Lecturer in Climate Law at the University of Edinburgh, Matt Gray, Consultant Analyst at IEA Climate Change Unit and Ben Garside, Correspondent and Co-founder at Carbon Pulse.
After PIEL 10th Anniversary speech and closing words, there was a drink reception for speakers and attendees.
